Quality & Process

From farmer-first sourcing to packhouse QA, we focus on consistent export-grade produce, full traceability, and reliable logistics.

Our principles

Farmers first. We work alongside African smallholder farmers to strengthen production, enhance quality, and promote sustainable practices that improve livelihoods.

Production support. We help growers access essential farm inputs and financing (credit or cash) to increase productivity and move beyond subsistence farming.

Sustainability. We uphold environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic viability across the value chain.

Standards & compliance. We collaborate with certified partner packhouses and operate under food safety systems aligned with global requirements (including GlobalG.A.P.-aligned controls), ensuring compliance, traceability, and continuous improvement.

Fresh avocados at origin
Avocado cultivation regions in Tanzania
Avocado in Tanzania

In Tanzania, avocados are traditionally grown within ecological agroforestry systems rather than large-scale monoculture plantations. Farmers cultivate avocado trees on small plots alongside other crops, enhancing biodiversity and naturally improving soil fertility.

This model reduces reliance on synthetic fertilizers and chemical pesticides while supporting environmental conservation and community wellbeing.

Key production regions such as the Mbeya and Njombe highlands benefit from fertile volcanic soils, favorable rainfall, and optimal temperatures—ideal conditions for premium avocado cultivation.

Quality assurance at sourcing

Quality Assurance (QA) is embedded in every stage of our operations to ensure compliance with industry requirements and alignment with customer specifications.

  • Close collaboration with growers to produce safe, high-quality fruit in line with market and regulatory standards.
  • Support with certifications required by international markets to strengthen export readiness.
  • Trained harvesters pick only fruit meeting defined maturity and quality standards to prevent damage.
  • Food-grade crates and sanitized transport to maintain integrity under controlled ambient conditions.
  • Traceability tags at farmer and farm-site level, enabling full tracking through packing and export.
Quality assurance and handling at origin
Packhouse process and export packing
Packhouse process
  • Receiving: Trucks are weighed; fruit is carefully offloaded. QC samples are collected and assessed per sourcing site, with reports shared for continuous improvement.
  • Packing: Grading machines are calibrated to customer size/weight requirements. Fruit is washed, sanitized, waxed, and dried to preserve shelf-life.
  • Final inspection: Manual checks remove any fruit not meeting specifications.
  • Packing formats: 4kg cartons (sizes 12–32) and 10kg cartons (sizes 26–32).
  • Palletising: Configured for export, including air and sea setups.
Storage & shipping
  • Palletised fruit is transferred to cold storage to preserve freshness and maintain optimal temperatures prior to shipment.
  • Reefer containers are delivered to the packhouse and pre-cooled to required shipping temperature to protect the cold chain.
  • Temperature data loggers monitor conditions throughout transit.
  • Containers are sealed using both company and shipping line seals to ensure integrity and traceability.

We can support both air freight and sea freight programs, depending on product, destination, and shelf-life requirements.
